3D when you need a shape, not a model
It is for the moment when a drawing cannot answer the question and a full 3D pipeline is absurd.

The gap it fills
Between a sketch on paper and opening proper CAD there is a real gap, and most of the questions that fall into it are simple: does this fit, which way round does it go, is the proportion right.
Those questions need a shape you can rotate, not a model. Blocking one out here takes ten minutes; setting up a real 3D pipeline for the same question takes an afternoon and produces a better answer to a question nobody asked.
Lighting decides whether the shape reads
The single most common disappointment is a model that looks flat and unconvincing, and it is almost never the geometry.
A default single light source flattens everything. Two lights at different angles is enough to make edges legible — one main, one weaker from roughly the opposite side. Add a material with some roughness rather than leaving everything on a default flat surface, because a perfectly smooth surface gives the eye nothing to read depth from.
Do this before you conclude the shape is wrong. Half the time the shape was fine and the lighting was lying about it.
Working with the rest of the workspace
Projects save into your workspace, so a model sits with the work it belongs to rather than in a downloads folder. That matters more than it sounds: a 3D file separated from its context is a file nobody can identify in three months.
For sharing, a screenshot from a good angle usually communicates more than the file. Attach the image to the task card and keep the file for whoever needs to edit it — most people looking at your model want to see it, not open it.
When to hand it over
Export exists because this is not the last stop for anything that gets manufactured, rendered properly or animated.
Hand it over when tolerances start to matter, when someone needs a photoreal render, or when the model needs to survive being edited by three people over a month. Browser 3D is for the fast answer; it is not pretending to be the production tool, and stretching it into that role is where the time goes.
